Note: Our consultations are tailored to meet the needs of your school or organization. You may mix and match these offerings. Here's an idea of what that might look like:
-Intake-
In our initial meeting, we'll:
discuss your biggest challenges on your equity journey
establish goals
start brainstorming a strategic plan
-Equity Audits-
How equitable is your institution?
We'll assess how equitable your school or organization is and will provide actionable tools and strategies for improvement in the following areas:
· Determining Accessibility: Do our application and recruitment processes and/or our tuition and fees keep socio-economically and linguistically diverse families from attending our schools in the first place? How accessible is your facility for people with disabilities?
· Community Empowerment: Creating policies and practices that reflect the needs of the local community by involving them in the decision making process. Are we hiring staff that is representative of the school population/demographics? Is our staff engaged in anti-bias, anti-racism and equity work?
· Accountability when issues of racism, discrimination, homophobia, classism, ableism, Islamophobia, Anti-Semitism, sexism, sexual harassment arise in the hiring process, human resource policies, disciplinary practices, classrooms, etc.
Policy Analysis
We’ll perform a meticulous analysis of your school or organization’s policy including your mission statement, your human resource policies (including all staff handbooks) to your written protocol for students and families. Collectively, we’ll review these documents through a critical lens and assess how we can rid them of bias and discrimination.
Curriculum Development
We’ll evaluate the content of the curriculum you’re implementing to determine how culturally responsive and inclusive it is. Whose histories, stories, and intellectual and cultural achievements are centered? Is your content accurate and truthful? Do your pedagogies engage learners to become democratically engaged, critically thinking global citizens? Do we have the same high standards for all of our students?
This includes an evaluation of disciplinary practices. Are our practices rooted in a firm understanding of child development, best practice, and a deep respect for the child? Do we discipline students in a way that is fair and free of bias and discrimination? Do our methods punish or teach? We’ll offer feedback on how to transform your theory and praxis.
